SALINA — The Bethany College men obviously didn’t lose their shooting eye over the Christmas break.
The Swedes returned to action on Friday in the Kansas Wesleyan Classic with a 94-78 runaway against Haskell, shooting 50 percent from the field, 40 percent from 3-point.
Cody Harris had an All-American type of performance with 26 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals to lead the Swedes. Jonathan Gidson came off the bench for 22 points and Larry McLin gave Bethany three 20-point scorers by hitting that number on the nose.
“We were very lethargic to start the game,” Bethany coach Clair Oleen said. “Once we got our energy and got defensive stops, we were able to get some things going offensively. I was disappointed with the way we played the last three minutes with the game decided, but give credit to Haskell for not letting up."
The Swedes led by 26 at one point before a late Haskell charge.
The Swedes are back in action today at 2:00 against Peru State.
