LINDSBORG — Bethany College’s women suffered through a 24-percent shooting night Saturday in being overrun by Avila University, 76-46.

The Swedes were just 17 of 65 from the field, a numbing 5 for 31 from 3-point.

Royce Shields was the only Swede in double figures with 11 points.

“Avila set the pace and momentum for the game from the very beginning," Bethany assistant coach Rhys Pihl said. "We struggled with our outside shots and could not seem to get in a rhythm. The girls definitely got better at a lot of things throughout the game, but there are still many things we need to improve on."

Michelle Brinkley had a rare triple-double for the Eagles with 25 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds.

The Swedes are now 1-15 overall and take an 0-4 KCAC record to Salina on Thursday when they return to conference play against Kansas Wesleyan.
