McPherson resident Anne Hassler has officially announced her candidacy for one of five positions up for election on the McPherson USD 418 school board in the April 2015 election.

Hassler has worked as the Director of the McPherson Convention and Visitors Bureau since Feb. 2009, overseeing projects such as the downtown murals, movies in the park and the summer concert series.

"As a civil servant I've tried to enrich the McPherson community through various events and programs. I'd like to extend my service to the community as a member of the USD 418 school board. I feel my experience as a volunteer, PTO member, Girl Scout leader and mother will help me work for the continued success of the students and teachers in USD 418. I would appreciate your vote on April 7," Hassler said.

Hassler is the mother of two school-age sons, Matt and Jake, and a daughter, Emma. Prior to working for the CVB, she was an editor and reporter at the McPherson Sentinel.
