McPherson High against Buhler.
This time it will be Thursday on the wrestling mat when the Bullpups host the Crusaders in a 6 p.m. dual of intense arch-rivals.
This will be the Bullpups’ first action in nearly three weeks.
“It will be a good dual with Buhler,” MHS coach Doug Kretzer said. “We finished just ahead of Buhler at Abilene and we matched up with them a few times. It should be competitive throughout.”
The Bullpups will be giving up six points at the start as they will be open at 170, which has been the case all year.
Kretzer was pleased with how his team practiced over the holiday break, as the wrestlers came back in good form.
“We practiced well over break, we’re ready to compete,” Kretzer said. “We’re looking forward to this month. We will really learn a lot about ourselves with three tough tournaments in a row as well as four good duals.”
The Bullpups should be strong down low as Austin Eldredge, Andrew Trowbridge and Cole Kretzer generally get MHS off to a good start. Eldredge, in the leadoff spot, is undefeated on the year and the other two also have winning records.
Others with winning records are Kaleb Jost and Ty Goss, while Luke Thompson and Ross Regier are at .500.
The Bullpups are busy this week, as they also compete Saturday at Maize.
