SALINA — McPherson’s seventh-grade B-girls salvaged a split Saturday in the Salina B-Jamboree Tournament at Lakewood.

The Bullpups lost to Lakewood 14-10, as they let a 10-4 halftime lead dissipate. Five players scored two points each.

The Bullpups bounced back with a 23-15 triumph over Great Bend behind six points by Shianna Newboles and five by Josie Strathman.

“The girls exhibited their best example of teamwork this year,” MMS coach Jennifer Love said. “They came determined and excited to play. Lakewood's pressure slowed us with our struggle to handle the ball in the second half, but we bounced back nicely against Great Bend.”

The Bullpups are now 9-5 on the year and have little respite as they host Salina Lakewood on Monday.

MMS (10)  — Strathman 2, Tice 2, Collins 2, Newboles 2, Carlson 2.

MMS (23) — Newboles 6, Strathman 5, Carlson 4, Collins 4, Kelling 2, Tice 2.
