McPherson’s eighth-grade A-boys ran their basketball record to 10-0 here Tuesday with a 50-35 success against Junction City.
The Bullpups, playing their second game in less than 24 hours, were led by Elijah Muehler with 20 points.
“This team continues to fight and battle with their back against the wall,” MMS coach Tyler Brown said. “We trailed Junction City by one point at halftime and came out of halftime with a terrific third quarter putting up 20 points. Jake Alexander did an awesome job on Dickerson of Junction City in our matchup 1-3-1 zone in the second half. Elijah Muehler also continues to be all over the court, causing havoc and putting up 11 of his 20 points in the third quarter. And our overall team defense came through in the fourth quarter holding Junction City to only four points.”
The Bullpups lost the B-team game 40-28 despite 10 points by Parker Stephens. MMS is now 5-7.
