The McPherson Public Library rolled out another online local history resource this month with the debut of the MPL McPherson History Timeline. The interactive timeline is a comprehensive view of what happened when in the city of McPherson and includes photos and video and audio clips. Coverage begins with the founding of the city in 1872 and continues to the present.
The timeline has been under construction for the past several years and was born from the research conducted by library staff in answering requests for local history information.
Jennie Hall, Head of Adult Services, originated the idea for the timeline as a resource for frequently asked questions about McPherson. “People want to know when the Light-O-Rama was because they were there as children, or they want to know the years of the typhoid and diphtheria epidemics, or maybe they are interested in when Satchel Paige visited McPherson.”
The public can access the timeline on the Local History & Genealogy page of the library website.
Once at the page, select the option for “The MPL McPherson History Timeline”.
Anyone having questions about the timeline may call the library at 245-2570 or email them at email@example.com.
