WINFIELD — McPherson High’s wrestling team started and finished fast, but Winfield dominated the middle matches on Thursday for a 42-29 dual victory.

The Bullpups’ Austin Eldredge, Andrew Trowbridge and Brynton Crews got MHS off to an 11-0 start, but Winfield took advantage of the Bullpups’ inexperience at the middle weights for seven straight wins and 39 unanswered points.

MHS won three of the last four matches, with wins by Kaleb Jost, Michael McKinney and Ty Goss.

The Bullpups hardly had time to hit the pillow as they are competing this morning in the Newton of Tournament of Champions, which concludes Saturday night.
