Moundridge and Inman suffered losses Monday night in midseason boys basketball tournament action.

In a defensive slugfest in the Rupp Classic at Halstead, Moundridge was outlasted 36-34 by Garden Plain. Both teams struggled from the field and it was tight all the way.

Anthony Otte had his best game of the year with 16 points to lead the Wildcats. The Owls did a nice job on top MHS scorer Colton Frazer, holding him to five points.

“We played hard defensively, but lack of a perimeter game is creating problems for us,” MHS coach Vance Unrau said. “We have to have kids that can step up and hit outside shots consistently. We got the ball inside where we wanted it on occasion, but once again had trouble finishing.”

The Wildcats play at 6 p.m. Thursday in the consolation bracket.

• Central Christian boys 65, Inman 55 — The Teutons had no answer for 6-10 Noah Starkey, who had a monster game with 23 points and 19 rebounds in the first round of the Burrton Invitational. It was the second time this year that Central had defeated Inman.

Ben Krehbiel was a nice complement to Starkey with 21 points.

Central Christian, now 9-1, led 26-20 at the half and the Teutons were still just a half-dozen behind with 5 minutes to go before the Cougars pulled away.

Wyatt Regehr topped Inman with 15 points. Keaton Case chipped in with 13.

Inman plays again at 3 p.m. Thursday against Pretty Prairie.

• Little River boys 52, Pretty Prairie 41  — The Redskins advanced to Thursday’s semifinals and will play Central Christian.

The Redskins jumped out to a 27-20 halftime lead and played steady in the second half.

Chord Zeller and Grant Harvey scored 16 points apiece. Zach Galyon chipped in with 12.

• Canton-Galva results — Because of only six teams this year, pool play is being used in the Canton-Galva Invitational.

The Wichita Warriors buried St. John’s Military 80-25 on Monday, while Sedgwick outlasted the Derby Invasion 61-54.

Tonight’s schedule finds Ell-Saline playing the Derby Invasion at 6 p.m., with Canton-Galva playing St. John’s Military at 7:30.
