Central cagers swept at York

YORK, Neb. — The long trip up to York College Tuesday night was even longer coming back for Central Christian College’s basketball teams.

The Tiger teams were swept in MCAC action as they completed a three-game journey to kick off conference play.

York’s women limited CCC to 21 first-half points and went on for an 88-60 victory. The Lady Tigers scuffled from the field by making just 15 of 60 shots, though they were an outstanding 24 of 30 from the line.

No Lady Tiger hit for double figures, though 10 did score. Raven Void, Ciara Costello and MacKenzie Woods all hit for nine points.

The Lady Tigers are now 1-2 in the MCAC and 7-12 overall. They finally play an MCAC game at home on Friday against Oklahoma Wesleyan, then host Haskell Saturday afternoon.

• YORK MEN 82, CENTRAL 73 — The Tigers will be glad to get home as they have started 0-3 in conference play.

York led 37-31 at the half and kept the Tigers at bay the rest of the way. CCC shot just 37 percent from the field.

Tere Adams came off the bench to lead the Tigers with 15 points, while Michael Gholston scored 14 and Alonzo Stafford had a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds.

The Tigers, now 10-7 overall after a 9-2 start, host Oklahoma Wesleyan Friday and Haskell Saturday afternoon.
