Viking wrestlers win title at Clearwater

CLEARWATER — Smoky Valley continues to stamp itself as one of the top wrestling teams in Class 4A by winning the recent Clearwater Invitational.

Buoyed by three champions, the Vikings scored 199 points to easily win the title in the 15-team field. Pratt was a distant second with 147 1/2 and El Dorado was third with 125.

Viking champions included Caleb Sare at 126, Austin Cook at 182 and Jarod DeMott at 220. Cook, a defending state champion, is 22-0 on the year.

Austin Lustfield was second at 120. Thirds went to Austin Golden at 138, Brandon Archuleta at 145 and Nils Peterson at 195.

Klayton Rick was fourth at 113, and Noah Lackey and Beck Elliott were sixth at 132 and 152, respectively.
