McPherson’s eighth-grade A-girls finished the home portion of their basketball schedule in fine fashion on Thursday.
The Bullpups were a 27-15 winner over Hays behind a balanced attack, led by Hannah Hageman with seven points.
“It was not our best offensive output, but our defense really carried us through,” MMS coach Jay Crawford said. “We only gave up three points the whole second half, which shows how well we have played defense all year. With that win the A-team moves to 14-1 and keeps a home winning streak alive, which is we have not lost a home game in four straight seasons."
The B-team was a 34-11 winner as it’s still perfect on the year in 15 games. Katelyn Beam had the hot hand with 13 points.
“The B-team played very well and they had a very good overall game,” Crawford said. “They are 15-0 with one game left. They are excited to see if they can close out the season undefeated.”
