McPherson College’s basketball teams are hoping the second time through the KCAC proves to be more bountiful than the first.
The Mac teams combined for just three KCAC wins, as the men are 2-7 in conference play and the women are 1-8. Only the top eight teams make the postseason tournament.
The Bulldogs, however, would like to begin the second half the way they started the first. Both Mac teams opened with victories over arch-rival Bethany back in December in Lindsborg and now the Swedes invade the Sport Center on Saturday for the return engagements.
Tipoff for the women is 5 p.m., the men play at 7.
The women’s game matches the two bottom teams in the conference. Bethany is 0-9 in the KCAC, 1-20 overall. The Bulldogs are 2-19 overall.
In the first meeting, Bethany led nearly the entire way, but the Bulldogs rallied for a 74-68 victory.
The Bethany men come in 6-3, tied with Southwestern and Saint Mary for third place. Both teams trail co-leaders Friends and Tabor by a game.
The first meeting of the year was a classic as a DeAndre Henson 3-pointer won it for the Bulldogs, 104-101. Bethany has compiled a 14-6 record and Mac is 6-15.
Due to coverage of the McPherson High Invitational, there will be no radio broadcast on 96.7 KBBE.
