The Central Christian College men’s basketball team started the long climb back Friday night at Alexander Arena.

After starting MCAC play with three straight road losses, the Tigers are hoping two home games in two days will get them back on track.

They certainly started well with a 73-53 rout of Oklahoma Wesleyan, as both teams came into the game in the same boat. The Eagles now fall to 0-4 and in the cellar.

CCC’s defense was tremendous, holding the Eagles to just 27 percent from the field.

“We were much more glued in on defense tonight,” CCC coach Tony Romero said. "We knew that we were going to have do well defending the 3-point line and I was pleased with our focus there. Our bench was key for us, we finally got some production that we have been missing for the last couple of games."

The Tigers hammered the Eagles on the boards with 51 rebounds to 37 for OW. Alonzo Stafford pulled down 10 to go along with his 27 points.

Michael Gholston added 13 points.

CCC, now 11-7 overall, is home Saturday afternoon to take on Haskell at 5 p.m.
