WICHITA — McPherson High’s bowling team competed in another unique 28-team tournament over the weekend, the Great Plains Classic hosted by Wichita North.

There were three games of individual and 12 games of Baker. The field was then cut to the Top 8 for match play.

The Bullpup girls made the cut, but lost in the first round to Garden City. The MHS boys came up short of making the Top 8.

“The tournament was a lot like a college tournament and they put down a tough condition,” MHS coach Herb Halinski said. “Very similiar to a U.S. Open type of golf course. I am proud of each and every one of the team members as they gave 110 percent all day long.  Carl (Frazier) and Jeff (Reed) both had good looks playing the extreme inside part of the lane, but a bunch of bad breaks leaving splits hurt them. Jazz (Jasmine Wann) was consistent all day long.  Alexis (Kieffer) had the best individual results for the girls.”

Complete results had not been released yet from Wichita North. The Bullpups are at El Dorado Tuesday for a meet hosted by Circle.
