ROSE HILL — McPherson High’s Michael McKinney stepped up from 220 to heavyweight Thursday night and his 5-1 victory over Rose Hill’s Brody Hingst clinched a 39-34 Bullpup victory in a dual match.

It actually was one of only two matches the Bullpups won on the mat, with Kaleb Jost winning by a fall for the other. Open weights were the order of the night, as MHS was open at two weights and Rose Hill was open at six. There were only seven actual varsity matches and five JV matches.

The victory improved MHS to 2-2 in AVCTL Division III duals with El Dorado still left on the schedule. The team returns to Rose Hill next weekend for tournament action.
