SV's Cook takes 1st; Vikes 3rd as a team

BALDWIN — Smoky Valley’s wrestling team took third place Saturday in the Baldwin Invitational.

The Vikings scored 141 1/2 points to finish behind Abilene (215 1/2) and Baldwin (185). There were 17 teams in all.

Austin Cook, at 182, was the only Viking to take first place, going 3-0. He defeated Joel Halford by a fall in the championship match. He also won by a fall and major decision in his other matches.

Taking second for the Vikings were Brandon Archuleta at 145 and Jarod DeMott at 220.
