Only in the MCAC.
Central Christian College’s basketball teams will face the same teams at home this weekend that they faced on the road last weekend.
In a quirk of the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference schedule, the Central teams host Central Baptist College on Friday and nationally ranked College of the Ozarks on Saturday.
Game time Friday is 5:30 p.m., with Saturday’s starting time the customary 3 p.m. at Alexander Arena.
Central Christian swept Central Baptist last week, the women winning 77-75 and the men taking a 73-60 decision.
The CCC men are in a four-way tie for fourth in the MCAC, which is why it’s essential they hold serve on their home court. Central Baptist is also 3-4.
The Tigers are 13-8 overall, while Central Baptist is 8-11.
In Saturday’s men’s game, College of the Ozarks comes to town armed with its No. 15 national ranking and a 5-2 MCAC record, one game back of No. 4-ranked Bellevue. Even without two starters, Michael Gholston and Daniel Nwosuh, the Tigers lost to the Bobcats by only 10 points last week, 87-77.
Friday’s game is a must-win for the 2-5 Lady Tigers, since Central Baptist is 1-6. Central’s women are 8-15 overall, while the Central Baptist women are 8-10.
Ozarks, ranked No. 18, is in the hunt for the MCAC title as it’s 6-1, a game back of 7-0 Oklahoma Wesleyan. The Lady Bobcats crushed Central 105-51 last Saturday.
Both Central teams are home again on Tuesday as York comes to town.
