ELYRIA — There appears to be great days ahead for the Elyria Christian School boys basketball program.
The Junior High Eagles won the Wheat State League Tournament on Saturday with a pair of wins, knocking off Solomon 38-30 in the semifinals, then cruising past Goessel 33-20 for the championship.
Against Solomon, the Junior Eagles jumped out to a 21-13 halftime lead and were up double digits going into the fourth quarter.
Caleb Froese scored 18 points and Aidan Fields added 14, including three 3-pointers. He also grabbed nine rebounds.
The Eagles turned to their defense for the win over Goessel, allowing only eight points in the first half. Elyria pulled away in the fourth quarter with a 12-6 advantage.
Froese and Fields scored 10 points apiece and Cross Allen added seven.
