ROSE HILL — Smoky Valley’s Austin Cook appears to be on a mission to become the Vikings’ first-ever repeat state champion.

Cook, who was undefeated at 170 pounds last year to win the 4A state title, is again undefeated this year, but at 182.

On Saturday, Cook tore through three more opponents for a title in the Rose Hill Invitational.

Cook won his first two matches by a fall, then defeated Chanute standout Ethin VanAnne by a 13-3 major decision in the finals.

The Vikings wound up fourth in the tournament, trailing only Chanute, Derby and Andover.

Smoky’s Brandon Archuleta at 145, Nils Peterson at 195 and Jarod DeMott at 220 all took fourth place and Austin Lustfield was fifth at 120 to round out the Smoky Valley placers.
