AUSTIN, Texas — Bethany College’s baseball team now has won three straight after opening its season with a pair of losses.
The Swedes swept the first of two doubleheaders they’ll play against Huston-Tilloston University on Wednesday, 10-4 and 5-4.
Carl Daniels pitched a complete game for the Swedes in the opener, their second of the year. They broke the game open in the fourth inning with five runs.
Nicholas Ceccarelli and Raymond Vazquez were both 3 for 3, with Ceccarelli driving in two runs.
Ceccarelli completed a 6-for-6 day in the nightcap by again going 3 for 3. Steven Velazquez-Perez drove in two runs. Robert Johnson was the winner in relief of Ryley Ross, who pitched the first four innings to keep the Swedes in it. Bethany received three hitless innings from its bullpen, with Clayton Cozzitorto being credited with a save.
The teams play two more games today.
