KHP releases statement on officer involves shooting in Kansas City

On Friday, February 13, 2015, at 9:08 a.m., Kansas Highway Patrol troopers were assisting Edwardsville Police Department, and other local authorities with the pursuit of an armed robbery suspect. The pursuit traveled across state lines, then back into Kansas, ending on Ruby Avenue, in Kansas City, Kansas (Wyandotte County). At the conclusion of the pursuit, the suspect was shot and killed by responding officers.

No officers were injured during this incident.

As standard practice, and in accordance with Kansas Highway Patrol policy, the trooper has been placed on Administrative Leave while this case is being investigated. The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) has been notified and is conducting the investigation, in conjunction with Kansas City, Kansas Police Department.
