Mac's Hop wins pole vault on first day

MANHATTAN – The McPherson College track and field programs are competing in the 2015 KCAC Indoor Championships this weekend.  Day One Friday consisted of seven events, four running and three field.

Mac's day was highlighted by Art Hop placing first in the pole vault and the men's squad qualifying four for the finals in the 60 meters.

Hop, who had yet to clear a height this year in the pole vault, was the first competitor to clear 4.25m and then watched the remaining competitors fail to make it over the bar, claiming MC's first crown of the year. 

 In the 60, the Bulldogs, who had the top four times going into the meet, finished first in each of the four preliminary heats.  McPherson was led by Perry Joseph who tied his PR and NAIA "A" Standard mark at 6.86.The other qualifiers were Akim Muhammad, J'Moi Penn, and Josiah Oyebefun.  MC also qualified a pair of runners in the 60 hurdles.

On the women's side, Jazmine Alexander qualified for the finals in the 60 meters at 7.97 while Neka Dias made it in the 60 hurdles with her time of 9.57.  The Lady 'Dogs qualified three for the weight throw in Dominique Clemons, Brooke Bush  and Ivanna Moyer.
