LINDSBORG — Bethany College’s baseball winning streak reached six on Saturday before it was snapped in the second game of a twinbill against Concordia College.
The Swedes were a 7-2 winner in the opener before Concordia cooled their jets with a 6-1 verdict in the nightcap.
Bethany is now 6-3 on the year.
The first game featured a route-going performance by Clayton Cozzitorto, who did not walk a batter and fanned six while scattering nine hits.
He received plenty of offense as Anthony Burgess drove in three runs with a bases-clearing triple and Jake Ross drove in a pair. The Swedes had back-to-back three-run innings.
Bethany had eight hits in the second game, but struggled to get the clutch hit as it left 12 runners on. Nicholas Ceccarelli and Cord Briggs had two hits apiece. The Swedes hurt themselves with four errors.
Andrew Gomez took the loss.
The Swedes are scheduled to play Tuesday at Mid-America Christian, weather permitting.
