BC softball team pounds out two wins Saturday

SHAWNEE, Okla. — Bethany College won its final two games of the Oklahoma Baptist University Softball Tournament on Saturday to finish the two days with a 3-1 record.

Bethany routed Baker 19-4 and blanked Central Baptist 8-0, a team that is receiving votes nationally.

In the opener, the score was somewhat misleading as Bethany scored 12 runs in the final inning to break it wide open

Ashley Montoya, Jasmine Zaker and Alyssa Montoya all homered for Bethany, which pounded out 19 hits in all. Zaker, Alyssa Montoya, Kristen Crawford and Emily Causey all had three hits. Ashley Montoya drove in five runs and sister Alyssa batted in four.

Camille McIver was the winner.

In Game Two, Bethany had a pair of three-run innings to back the pitching of Jasmine Stewart. Crawford pounded out four hits for the Swedes and drove in two. Alyssa Montoya added two hits.

The Swedes will head to Texas for three games this upcoming weekend.
