Central Christian College’s basketball teams close out the regular season this weekend with a pair of home games at Alexander Arena.
The Central men will face two of the MCAC’s top teams as they host Bellevue on Friday and Waldorf on Saturday.
The Tigers take a 5-7 conference record into the weekend, so they need a sweep to get to .500. But it’s a tall order, as both opponents are 9-3 — a game back of 10-2 College of the Ozarks.
The Tigers are 15-11 overall as they are assured of a winning regular season, their sixth straight in as many tries under coach Tony Romero.
The Central women take a 3-9 MCAC record into the weekend. Friday’s opponent, College of St. Mary, is 9-3, a game back of 10-2 co-leaders Oklahoma Wesleyan and College of Ozarks. Haskell also is 9-3 as it’s been a four-way battle all year.
Central is 3-9, tied with York for fifth and a game up on 2-10 Waldorf and Central Baptist. If the Lady Tigers can win against York, it would give them double digits in wins as they enter the weekend 9-19.
Following this weekend, the CCC teams will be competing in the MCAC Postseason Tournament, with the sites to be determined by the final order of standings.
Game times Friday are 5:30 and 7:30 p.m., with Saturday’s times the customary 3 and 5 p.m.
