It’s been a rough start to the season for McPherson College’s softball team.

The Bulldogs were swept in their home opener on Friday to fall to 0-7 on the year, though they continue to play only top-shelf teams. The games were originally scheduled for Sunday, but moved up because of the impending weather.

Mac was held to a pair of hits in an 11-0 loss in the first game. Ten runs in the second innings keyed Midland as the Bulldogs held their own in the other innings.

Mallory Flower threw 3 2/3 innings of one-run relief for Mac.

Simone Donaldson was 3 for 3 with a double and three RBIs in the second game for the Bulldogs, but they were defeated 15-5 as lack of a pitching presence is hampering the team. Cassandra Moreno was 2 for 3 with two RBIs and Emily Davis had two hits, one a double.

The Bulldogs are scheduled to play Tuesday at Central Christian College, weather permitting.
