164,711 Kansans potentially affected by Anthem cyber-attack

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) was notified today that 164,711 past or current KanCare or CHIP members were affected by the cyber-attack on Anthem, the parent company of Amerigroup and Unicare. Amerigroup first notified KDHE of the cyber-attack on Feb. 5, 2015. Amerigroup, which administers part of KanCare, Kansas’ Medicaid program, currently covers 131,811 KanCare members. CHIP members who were enrolled with Unicare prior to the implementation of KanCare also may have been affected.

Anthem has been notifying all past and current members who may have been affected via U.S. Postal mail and email about identity protection and credit monitoring services that are now available to them, free of charge.
