LINDSBORG — Bethany College’s baseball team suffered a rare sweep at the hands of MCAC member York College on Wednesday.

The Panthers won 8-0 and 9-5.

York scored seven runs combined in the fourth and fifth innings to break open the first game.

"We flat out didn't compete in Game One and got away from what makes us successful," Bethany coach Andrew Bartman said.

Carl Daniels took the loss. The Swedes were held to two hits.

Bethany led the second game 3-1, but it was all York after that as the Panthers came away with a 9-5 win and a rare road sweep.

"In Game Two we competed, but couldn't overcome free bases and not executing at the plate when chances prevented themselves,” Bartman said.

Robert Johnson took the loss in relief. Zach Young led the Bethany offense with two hits.

The 7-6 Swedes are scheduled to host Hastings on Saturday, but the impending snow figures to postpone the games.
