Updated Class 4A state wrestling results

SALINA — McPherson High’s Kaleb Jost lost his first-round match today in the Class 4A State Wrestling Tournament at the Bicentennial Center.

Jost, at 182 pounds, was defeated 13-3 by Joey Haydon of Wellington to drop into the losers bracket. It’s already been posted that MHS’ Austin Eldredge won his first match by a 9-2 score at 106.

For Smoky Valley, its four wrestlers went 3-1 in the first round.

Undefeated Austin Cook, at 182, pinned Winfield’s Ali Viravong, while Brandon Archuleta, at 145, pinned Alex Smith of Labette County.

Jarod DeMott, at 220, was a 7-4 winner over Kyle Coy of Frontenac. Austin Lustfield, at 120, was edged in sudden victory 3-1 by Nathan Moore of Augusta.

Second-round action is under way.
