There were two shocking results Saturday in the men’s KCAC Postseason Tournament.

Regular-season champion Tabor, which had not lost a KCAC game at home all season, was stunned 89-79 by Friends, while Saint Mary, which had finished second in the KCAC in the regular season, also was stunned at home, 65-64 by Sterling.

Thus it will be No. 4 seed Friends taking on No. 6 seed Sterling for the championship at 6 p.m. Monday night at Hartman Arena in Park City.

Friends’ Toby Baxter made 13 of 14 shots and scored 35 points to lead the Falcons to the upset. Friends as a team was an amazing 30 of 45 from the field.

In the women’s semifinals, there were no surprises as Friends took care of Saint Mary 71-60 and Southwestern routed Sterling, 89-58. The championship game is set for 8 p.m. Monday at Hartman.

The Tabor men and women already have clinched spots in the national tournament, so the winners of the games Monday earn the second automatic spot awarded to the KCAC.
