KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Bethany College’s wrestling team wound up ranked No. 18 in the final NAIA poll.
While Bethany had received votes for most of the year, the previous poll was the first of the year in which the Swedes were ranked in the Top 20 as they were tied for No. 17.
Four Swede wrestlers have advanced to the NAIA National Championships this upcoming weekend in Topeka.
Zach Anderson and Dane Edwards are automatic qualifiers. Bethany also received two at-large bids, Victor Hughes and Jonathan Blackwell.
"Being ranked in the Top 20 in the final poll is a great achievement for our program," Bethany assistant coach Marvin Tischhauser said. "However, rankings go out the window at this time of year and during the national tournament upsets are expected. The four men we have representing Bethany College have wrestled really well all year and I expect them to do great things in Topeka."
