WICHITA — The Friends University men and Southwestern College women will be joining both Tabor teams at NAIA National Basketball Tournaments.

It was Championship Monday in the KCAC at Hartman Arena, as the Friends men continued their hot shooting from 3-point to knock off Sterling 74-59, while the Southwestern women won by the exact same score over Friends to punch their ticket to nationals.

The Friends men, who stunned regular-season champion Tabor on Saturday, made 12 3-pointers and their zone defense kept the Warriors struggling on the offensive end.

Friends broke the game open in the second half with a 19-3 run.

Toby Baxter scored 16 points to lead Friends. Braden Thompson led Sterling with 15.

The Falcons take a 17-15 record to Point Lookout, Mo.

The Southwestern women held Friends to 4 of 23 from 3-point to key their victory.

Southwestern will take a 22-9 record to Sioux City, Iowa. Jordan Hobbs’ 22 points led Southwestern while Friends was paced by Kayla Mollere with 21.
