McPherson College’s baseball team treated its guests, Robert Morris College of Illinois, with the utmost courtesy here Thursday.

The Bulldogs struggled mightily in the first game, losing 19-1, before the second game was much more competitive, with Mac still losing 8-3.

The first-game score is somewhat misleading. Robert Morris scored six times in the third and eight runs in the final inning. Mac was held to six hits, with Bryce Strecker’s double the only extra-base knock.

Treyton DeVore took the loss.

The Bulldogs led the second game 3-2 before a disastrous sixth inning, as they permitted six runs.

Mac again struggled at the plate with just four hits, all singles. Jesse Correll took the loss.

Mac, now 3-11, plays crosstown rival Central Christian College at 4 p.m. Saturday.
