Central Christian College’s baseball team and Robert Morris College of Illinois swapped victories today as the Tigers finally played at home for the first time this year after 16 road games.
The Tigers won the opener 9-4, displaying as much offense as any time this year. Caleb Gorman (two hits, two RBIs), Ian Eshelman (two hits, two runs, two RBIs) and Clayton Cramer (two hits, two RBIs) led the way for Central, while Reynaldo Echenique added two RBIs.
CCC pitcher Doug Gove was on cruise control after the Tigers staked him to six runs in the first inning. He fanned seven in seven innings.
The Eagles buried the Tigers 8-0 in the first two innings of the second game and went on for a 12-3 win. Lee Stoops’ two-run homer was the CCC highlight, as it fell to 4-14 on the year.
Andrew Hightower took the loss.
The teams meet again at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Central then plays McPherson College at 4 p.m.
