Defending Class 4A Division I state champion McPherson High has drawn the No. 1 seed for this year’s boys state tournament.
The 22-0 Bullpups will play 11-11 Chanute at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Salina Bicentennial Center.
A potential rematch with Andale looms in the semifinals, which would be an 8:15 p.m. game on Friday. The Indians (19-3), however, play Miege (18-4) in what should be a tremendous first-round game at 8:15.
McPherson edged Andale by two points earlier this year in its closest game of the season.
On the other side of the bracket, it’s 22-0 Basehor-Linwood (22-0) taking on Wellington (12-10) at 3 p.m., with Ottawa (20-2) taking on Fort Scott (16-6) at 4:45 p.m. The two winners would meet at 4:45 p.m. on Friday.
The championship game is at 6:15 p.m. Saturday.
