LEAVENWORTH — In the end, it was a no-brainer.

KCAC member Saint Mary has taken the “interim” tag off of Troy Brown and he’s now the Spires’ head men’s basketball coach.

Brown, a 2001 Saint Mary graduate and alum of the basketball program, has been serving as interim coach of the squad since January when Jon Bishop was terminated. He had been an assistant for four years.

"I like the fact that Troy, as an alum, has a lot invested in the Saint Mary mission and the character we expect out of the basketball program," Saint Mary Athletic Director Rob Miller said. "

Brown led Saint Mary to a second-place finish in the KCAC with a 13-5 record and 18-7 mark overall. The Spires were upset by Sterling in the semifinals of the KCAC Tournament.
