OTTAWA — McPherson High graduate Aaron Marshall, a preseason baseball All-American for Ottawa University, had gotten off to a bit of a slow start this spring, batting just .231 through 12 games.
But Marshall broke out of his slump in a big way on Saturday with a three-homer day.
Against St. Gregory’s, Marshall’s second homer of the game —a dramatic grand slam — sparked a five-run rally for the Braves as they overcame a 6-2 final-inning deficit for a stunning 7-6 win.
He finished the game with five RBIs.
Earlier in the day in what was a triangular, Marshall had homered and driven in two runs in a 6-3 loss to MidAmerica Nazarene.
Ottawa is now 5-9 on the year.
Marshall’s average is now at .282 and he has four homers and 12 RBIs in 14 games. Seven of his 11 hits have been for extra bases.
