Saint Mary might be just the team to give nationally ranked Tabor a run for the KCAC baseball championship.

Central Christian College certainly would agree. The Tigers, who are 0-3 against the Bluejays, got their first shot at Saint Mary here Tuesday, losing a single, nine-inning game by a 15-1 count.

The Tigers were held to three hits. Saint Mary sped to an 8-0 lead after three innings and then had back-to-back innings that produced seven more runs.

Lee Stoops, who had homered twice in his previous game, provided the Tigers’ offense with another blast.

Chase Dean took the loss.

Central, now 5-16, begins MCAC play this weekend by hosting Central Baptist College in a four-game series, two games on Friday and two on Saturday.
