LAWRENCE — Central Christian College’s softball team picked the perfect time to win its first two games of the Tina Haga era.

After going 0-8 in non-MCAC games, the Lady Tigers opened conference play Tuesday with a road sweep of Haskell.

Central pounded out 17 hits in routing Haskell in Game 1, 13-4. Dana Dean was 3 for 4, while winning pitcher Kristen Hall helped her own cause with three RBIs. Sydney Nelson, Ashly Westgarth and Brooklynn Lemons all added two hits, while Dean and Westgarth had two RBIs apiece.

Hall pitched the first five innings, with Cheyenne Bouis finishing up with two scoreless innings.

The second game featured a solid pitching performance from Kasi Kraus, who pitched a three-hitter in an 11-1 Tiger rout. The only run she allowed was unearned and she struck out four in a game that went only five innings.

Hall and Nelson both ripped three hits apiece, while Dean, Cheyenne Reynolds and Desiree Yandell all collected two.

Central has no rest as it plays McPherson College today at 5 p.m. at Wall Park in a twinbill.
