RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. — The Wonder Boys had a wonderful tournament.

Arkansas Tech, coached by 1997 McPherson High graduate Chad Kline, rocketed from the No. 5 seed to win the Great American Conference Men’s Postseason Basketball Tournament to earn a spot in the NCAA Division II National Tournament.

This is Kline’s first year as head coach after being an assistant for three years at the school.

The Wonder Boys, who were 15-13 during the regular season, knocked off Southeastern Oklahoma (95-83), Southwestern Oklahoma (85-74) and finally No. 2 East Central in the championship game (80-77).

In the semifinal game against Southwestern Oklahoma, Arkansas Tech broke the tournament record by burying 19 3-pointers.

The Wonder Boys travel Saturday to Sioux Falls, S.D. to play No. 6-ranked Augustana College, which is the No. 1 regional seed.
