LINDSBORG — Bethany College’s defense collapsed in the ninth inning Wednesday with three errors, which led to five runs and an 8-6 baseball loss to the University of Central Oklahoma.

Bethany led 6-3 going into the final inning, but the leaky defense led to the loss. The Swedes actually gave up all the runs after the first two batters were retired.

Weston Jacobs had two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored to lead the Swedes. Christiannel Cosme took the loss in relief as he came on in the ninth inning.

Bethany, now 8-10 after a 6-2 start, opens KCAC play Friday hosting Kansas Wesleyan, then the teams play a pair on Saturday in Salina.
