Mac netters swept by Rockhurst

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — McPherson College’s high-powered men’s tennis team stepped up in class and took NCAA Division II Rockhurst College down to the wire before losing Saturday, 5-4.

The teams split the six singles matches, but Rockhurst won two of the three doubles matches.

6) Jose Maria Carillio Rena (Mac) def. Nico Riveros 4-6, 6-1, 10-6

1) Lahlou/Fajula-Rodriguez (Mac) def. Gray/Unger (RU) 8-5

2) Valev/Riveros (RU) def. Ball-Greene/Roman (Mac) 8-6

3) Chmielewski/Chmielewski (RU) def. Carrillo/Carillio (Mac) 9-8

• ROCKHURST WOMEN 8, MAC 1 — The Bulldogs ran into a buzzsaw.

Preventing the shutout was a win from sisters Brooke and Nikki Vorhees at No. 1 doubles. Individual results were not available.
