Baseball Tigers suffer sweep on Saturday

MCAC baseball power Central Baptist College of Arkansas completed a four-game weekend sweep of Central Christian College here Saturday with a pair of wins.

In the opener, CBC sped to a 7-0 lead after three innings before the Tigers scored four unanswered runs to make things interesting. But in the end it was the Mustangs winning, 8-4.

Ian Eshelman had two of CCC’s four hits. Keaton Snyder took the loss, but Andrew Hightower threw six solid innings of relief, giving up no earned runs.

The nightcap went to the Mustangs 7-1, but it was tense game until the fifth when Central Baptist scored six runs to break a 1-1 tie.

Raymond Echenique had two hits for Central and Chance Carney drove in the only run. Jhon Peralta took the loss for the Tigers.

Central, now 5-20, plays Monday at Kansas Wesleyan in a single, nine-inning game.
