OLATHE — What McPherson College’s baseball team really needed Tuesday was a well-pitched game to get out of its doldrums.

The Bulldogs entered the game with MidAmerica Nazarene just 4-17, but Trevor Haycock was the man of the hour.

Haycock, a diminutive 5-7 freshman lefty, twirled six scoreless innings and gave up just three hits before the bullpen allowed only one run in three innings as Mac won the single, nine-inning contest, 6-1.

Keegan Hays gave up a run in two innings before Brant Rhodes nailed it down with a scoreless ninth.

Seth Davenport and John Feaster had two hits apiece for the Bulldogs. Mac totaled only six in the game.

The Bulldogs play Thursday at Ottawa, which features preseason All-American Aaron Marshall, a McPherson High graduate.
