Central Christian College’s softball team constructed back-to-back four-run innings in Game 1 against Bethel here Tuesday to key a 9-4 triumph.
The Lady Tigers continued their red-hot hitting by smacking 16. Constance Baker had her best game of the year by going 3 for 4 with four RBIs and one of her hits was a homer. Cheyenne Reynolds and Kasi Kraus also drilled three hits to back the winning pitching of Kristen Hall. She went the first four innings before Cristina Insua came on to get nine straight outs as she overwhelmed the Threshers.
The Lady Tigers were in position for the sweep, but after taking a 4-3 lead with three runs in the bottom of the sixth, they gave it right back as Bethel scored two in the seventh for a 5-4 victory.
Ashley Westgarth and Sydney Nelson both had two hits for Central, while Baker completed a great day with two more RBIs to give her six in the twinbill. Insua took the loss.
The Lady Tigers, now 5-13, are scheduled to host Tabor today, weather permitting.
