Central Christian College’s softball team nearly upset Tabor here Wednesday in Game 1, losing 10-9, before being blown out 14-2 in the nightcap to fall to 5-15 on the year.
Even in defeat, the Lady Tigers have been putting up some big runs. In the opener, they slugged their way back from an early 7-1 deficit before eventually catching the Bluejays with a run in the seventh to force extra softball. Tabor scored a run in the eighth to win it.
The uber-hot bat of Sydney Nelson produced a 3-for-4 game with two doubles and two RBIs. Ashly Westgarth contributed two hits.
Cheyenne Bouis took the loss.
Tabor left no doubt in the second game. The Bluejays ended it in five innings, keyed by innings of five and four runs.
Desiree Yandell had two of the four CCC hits. Kristen Hall took the loss.
The Lady Tigers have a well-deserved break as they do not play again until March 27 in the annual MCAC Crossover, to be held at Central Baptist.
