Now that he’s coaching the entire McPherson College soccer program, Doug Quint is hard at work signing players for next year.
Quint announced this week the women’s signing of midfielder Kristen Tainatongo from Allen County Community College, which has been a recruiting haven for Quint down through the years.
"We are thrilled with the addition of Kristen to the program," Quint said. "She is an All-Region transfer that will make an immediate impact for us in the midfield. She is a very attack-minded player who is extremely composed in possession and can strike a ball from distance. Her experience and leadership will be very important to us next fall."
Tainatongo hails from Fort Riley and graduated from Junction City High School where she played for coach Drew Proctor. As a senior for the Blue Jays, Tainatongo earned All-Centennial League second-team honors and was also voted a second-team member of her region.
She actually started high school at Leilehua High in Hawaii, where she was an honorable mention athlete following her freshman and sophomore seasons.
She has been playing the last two years at Allen County for head coach Jeremy McGinnis. She compiled five goals and nine assists in her time there and was voted to the All-Jayhawk Conference team following her sophomore season.
A member of Phi Theta Kappa, Tainatongo plans on majoring in psychology while attending McPherson College.
