Three McPherson College basketball players have been named NAIA Daktronics Scholar-Athletes.
The Mac women are represented by Bailey Brown and Sunny Smart, while the men’s honoree is Kaven Denno.
Brown is a three-year starter. She led Mac in scoring with a school-record 488 points. She broke the school record for most free throws taken and made at 261 and 193, respectively. She was named to the All-KCAC third team
Smart has been a starter for Mac in both her of years after transferring as a sophomore. She scored 399 points and led the team in 3-pointers with a school-record 128. She also led the KCAC in both 3-pointers made and taken. Despite being a guard, she had a team-high 211 rebounds.
Denno has been a Mac member for four years. He was a member of a KCAC championship team and two teams that won the postseason tournament.
In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.
