CONWAY, Ark. — It was a split Friday for Central Christian College’s softball team on the first day of the MCAC Crossover Tournament hosted by Central Baptist College.

The Tigers won an exciting opener against Waldorf College 5-3 when Sydney Nelson hit a two-run, walk-off home run.

Central was down 3-0 after 5 1/2 innings before scoring three runs in the sixth to tie the game, then won it in the seventh.

Kristen Hall also drove in two runs for CCC. Cheyenne Reynolds stroked two hits and scored two runs.

Cristina Inusa was the winner, scattering 14 hits as time and again she came up with the big pitch to get out of a jam.

The Lady Tigers then played Bellevue and were no match for the Bruins, who are receiving votes in the national poll. Nelson and Insua had the only hits in a 10-0 loss. Hall took the defeat.

Central, now 3-3 in the MCAC and 6-16 overall, is playing York and College of St. Mary in its two games today.
